Editorial policy
Silver Running Journal aims to be precise about what can be stated, careful about what remains uncertain and clear about the difference between editorial coverage and paid collaboration.
Accuracy and sources
We check factual claims against suitable, identifiable material and prefer explanations that readers can follow. We avoid unsupported claims about an object’s age, composition, origin or value. Where reliable information is incomplete or interpretations differ, the wording should make that uncertainty visible.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for reader interest and relevance, not to secure a commercial placement. A partner does not receive control over independent coverage, and commercial relationships do not guarantee favourable treatment.
Corrections
Readers can use the Contact page to identify an error and provide context. We review correction requests, amend material when warranted and make significant changes clear to readers.
Paid material and illustrations
Paid or partner material is labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where that applies, the image is identified accordingly. Illustrations are not evidence for claims about a particular historical object.
A surface is never the whole story
We look at silver without treating shine as proof of quality. Material, making, use and meaning all matter.
